my favicon

Finally!
Drink it in kids...

There she is in ALL her 16x16 pixels of glory!
I've been doing some research on brochures all night and needed a little break. So I attacked one of my long time goals: Create a favicon for my blog.... Boosh! I can now scratch that off my bucket list.
*Sorry IE it doesn't work on your lame ass browser.
Furthermore, if you are using IE please for the love of that is holy take a moment to go here and download firefox. Seriously. It's embarrassing. And I can tell who is using it and who isn't. So stop. Now.

Back to my favicon.
I'm pleased.
It's the little things...... You know.

OK, your weather sucks

8 days ago:
3 days ago:

Today it is sunny and in the mid 70's.... really.
In other news: I'm burning through 3 big projects right now so I can't stay long.
Just wrapped up a press conference here in the gallery and it was fun. We had numerous individuals from the metro chamber and the city's office - including the mayor. We were announcing the new Tulsa Lawyers for the Arts program. Which is kind of awesome. Here are some of my notes:
- Tulsa Lawyers for the Arts is a new organization created to provide legal assistance and educational programming to artists and arts organizations in Oklahoma at little to no cost.
- Supported by the Tulsa County Bar Association (TCBA) and serviced by Tulsa attorneys on TCBA’s new Entertainment Law Committee
- Provided to artists and arts organizations, including musicians; songwriters; photographers; filmmakers; painters; poets; graphic designers; actors; theatre companies; dance troupes; museums; and artists from other disciplines
- Organized and developed by Chad Burris, attorney of counsel for Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson; chair of the Entertainment Law Committee; and owner of Indion Entertainment Group (IEG
- Endorsed by the City of Tulsa and Tulsa Metro Chamber

Areas of representation

* Contracts
* Copyright
* Trademark
* Landlord/tenant
* Corporate
* Employee/independent contractor
* First Amendment issues
* Organizational tax
* Wills/trusts/estates
* Nonprofit
* Mediation

Anyway, I've got to get back to editing video.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Since the mid-nineties he’s worked at the intersection of top-level graphic and interactive design, developing a deep understanding of media factors on design decision-making. His work has been widely published by Graphis, Taschen, and design periodicals.

LFP is getting a facelift

Just in time for our first show in 2009 with Mike Sexton! Friday April 3rd.... Be there. Haven't heard about it? You will... Trust me.

If You Seek Amy

My last post was a downer so let's talk about something a bit more upbeat. How about the new Britney Spears video "If You Seek Amy"....? If you haven't seen it - check it. Sure the song is funny and all, but the video is quite incredible. I like the contrast in all the shots. The DP did an amazing job. I also like the transition with her wardrobe and character. Love it.
Britney Spears overcame all the odds huh? It's rather impressive. It is easy to ridicule our over-paid-spoiled-brat celebrities, but I can't imagine how bad it got for her. In the course of 5 years she had everything, lost everything, had the very industry that embraced her and propelled her into stardom turn on her, tear her down and exploit her.... They even went as far as to write her obituary.
The poor girl was only like 24 years old...
BUT, she did it. She's back and it's kind of awesome. Well done lady.

march

March is always a difficult month for me. As most of you know, it is filled with a handful of terrible memories.
I've taken my time to write this post.
13 days to be exact.
Because that is what you need to do to get through it. Just take your time with it. It's hard for me to talk about, as it is for all of us. It's not that I don't want to talk about it. It's just hard. March is a month I step towards with uncertainty. I talk about it less and less because I'm learning to deal with it. Losing your best friend was hard for all of us and we all dealt with it differently. I'm not even sure how I dealt with it. Life seems so fuzzy for a few years. Still to this day it is hard for me to utter his name. It's incredible how much my heart hurts when I miss him. But March makes it so much more difficult. Reminders around every corner. So I did something different this year, I embraced it. I surrounded my life with everything that he was. Down to some very significant details. That day will never get easier. I have learned that. But being with and sharing with people that I love has brought him closer to me again. He doesn't feel so far away anymore. I love you all and I miss you terribly.

Appreciate everything you have. Because you have something. You have time.... You have emotions..... You have tears.... You have hope..... You have dreams.... I lost my best friend and I would do anything to have him back. Sorry if I have been distracted lately, but it's March. It's always different for me.

pd - I miss you and love you dude.

The Elton John + Billy Joel Project

I was commissioned by the BOK Center to create a gift for Elton John and Billy Joel. It was an incredible honor. I came up with an idea to design a jewelry box for both Elton and Billy. I recruited Nate and Greg from Spexton to design the cuffs... They did an amazing job and for the first time in a long time - I was 100% pleased with the entire project. (I'm typically over critical of myself.) Before the show I was able to snap a few photos of the final pieces:
[Billy Joel's cuff][Elton John's Cuff]
I decided to go with some retro images of the stars and run with my distressed look on the boxes:Last night we presented the gifts to the artists and as I took this photo (moments before they walked on stage), my heart was pounding..... It was so amazing to see Elton John and Billy Joel looking at me AND holding something I created for them.

soul clap

Where do I begin?
Maybe a photo diary....
Maybe a wordy explanation of where I have been the last week +3 days.
Maybe I will hoard my photos and keep my stories to myself and move onto my rant about the current state of our economy and how the general public seems to be missing the point. (politically, theoretically, hypothetically, fundamentally and sociologically)
Maybe I will just go eat.
Maybe I will tell you why I needed this getaway.
Maybe I will tell you a story about the search for stillness.
Maybe I will tell you about the most amazing group of friends one will ever know.
Maybe I will tell you why I detached for a few moments.
Maybe I will tell you how an incredible week came about with just a few simple dates in mind.....

Photo diary it is. Of the obscure kind.
And in no particular order.

the open road

We're currently making our way back from Phoenix Arizona and I will be back in the office tomorrow afternoon. As you can tell I've completely unplugged myself from the world wide interwebs, including email and my blog. This has definitely been the longest hiatus from personal technology. The break has been incredible... I recommend everyone take a week or two off every year to remove themselves from their devices.

I've had the most wonderful week and I can't wait to tell you ALL about it....
I can't wait..... Miss you!

playboy is smart

I love shoes.
I do.
So it's no wonder that I thought it was pretty rad when Playboy had Irina Voronina model some rare kicks. My favorites of course: “Big Gulp” Nike SB Dunk Hi, Alife "Everybody High" and the “Spiderman” Nike SB Dunk Mid. I love me some SB Mids.
